Ord House Country Park, which features areas designated to holiday homes, lodges, touring caravans and tents, is located in the grounds of Ord House Manor, built originally for Admiral Godolfin Osborne in 1789. The park has won many awards over the years, the most recent ones being Best Park in the North East Region and Best Green Park, voted for by readers of Practical Caravan Magazine.
Members of the Osborne family lived at Ord House until 1954, when the estate was sold to George Marshall, manager of the former Walter Willson store in Berwick, George bought the Ord House estate with a local solicitor and builder. Within two years George had quit his job, bought out his partners and created a holiday park that was to be his pride and joy for 40 years, until his death in 1991.
The Maguire family purchased the park from George??s son in 2003 and have continued to make improvements, improving shower blocks and playgrounds, landscaping and the roads, but always keeping true to George??s vision, maintaining Ord House as a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing country park.
