The site is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Nidderdale, being 12 miles from Harrogate and 5 miles from Pateley Bridge on the B6165, close to the River Nidd and next to the Nidderdale Way.
image-1Manor House Farm is a working farm, predominantly sheep and horses. Because the site was developed from mature woodland, there is an abundance of wildlife both on the site and on the river banks.
The River Nidd is only a short walk away near stepping stones across the river, giving access to public footpaths and the Nidderdale Way, 15 minutes walk will take you to the nearest local pub, the Wellington Inn, Darley and Royal Oak, Dacre is nearby. Both have a reputation for good food. The stepping stones on the Nidd give a wonderful play area for children, upstream being slow moving and shallow, ideal for dinghies and generally messing about on the river.
There is no shop on site, but our local village of Summerbridge, some 2 miles away towards Pateley Bridge on the B6165, has an excellent butchers, post office, village shop, fish and chip shop, tearooms and a garage. Diesel and petrol are also sold at the ironmongers and agricultural merchants. In the next village of Dacre Banks there is a doctors’ surgery and dentist. A walk along the river brings you to Max Pullen’s playing fields in Dacre Banks with tennis courts, bowling green and childrens recreational area. Cricket matches are played most weekends in season.
Local beauty spots include:
Brimham Rocks
Fountains Abbey and Studley Park
Stump Cross Caverns
How Stean Gorge
Ripley Castle & Park
Grassington
Kilnsey Crag
Within easy travelling distance are the towns of Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon, Skipton and Ilkley.
Facilities include free shower and toilet facilities. A laundry room and washing-up facilities are also available.
Because this is a working farm, dogs are allowed only by prior arrangement, and must be kept pegged or on a lead. As it is a wooded area, barbeques are limited to gas barbeques only on the caravan site. On the camping field gas or charcoal barbeques are allowed, but care must be taken not to damage the turf.
