About

About BLACK MOUNTAIN CARAVAN PARK

This small family run caravan and camping park is located in the Brecon Beacons National Park on the border between Carmarthenshire and Powys. The site has received wide acclaim for its unrivalled views over the spectacular Fan Brycheiniog, the beginning of the Carmarthen Fans, in this location so noted for its scenery that it has been used for the filming of major productions including King Arthur by the Disney Corporation.

We also have facilites for a small number of tourers and motor homes. A further two fields away from the caravan park are available for camping and our rural Black Mountain location make the site a perfect base for those working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

We are open for the full 12 months of the year ensuring that we cater for all – hardy campers please see our winter page for a glimpse of the spectacular scenery during this season.

The site has the benefit of being situated next to a Red Kite Feeding Station and is therefore ideal for those keen on bird watching as the kites circle overhead throughout the day. There is a rich variety of wildlife and birdlife to be found on and around the park. The rural location guarantees no light pollution and for the star gazer we have fabulously clear starry nights – a spectacular sight particularly on a crisp winters night (check the weather forecast).

Take a day off from mountain walking - a drive of approximately one hour will take you to a variety of exciting places including the city of Cardiff with its numerous attractions including The Museum of Welsh Life, the Millenium Stadium and Cardiff Bay. Heading south The Gower Peninsula is in easy reach, as is Pembrey Country Park and the Millenium Coastal Path at Llanelli. To the west the world-renowned coastline of Cardigan Bay with its many opportunities for dolphin and seal watching is a trip not to be missed. Boat trips to explore the coastline depart from Aberaeron and Newquay.

Local attractions include spectacular waterfalls, caves, The Dolaucothi Roman Gold Mine, fishing, pony trekking and for the keen gardener we are situated only a short drive from The National Botanical Gardens of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens.
